      Hi Evelina 🙂

Our body needs food for it to make the energy that keeps us alive.

Because we need food we have evolved in such a way that when we are running out of energy our body makes us feel hungry.

(Sometimes we can feel hungry even when our body already has lots of energy – this is because our brains become wired to feel hungry at certain times and also in response to seeing food.)

I think if we tried to go without food for 2 years we would die of starvation (because the body would not have the nutrients and energy it needs to stay alive)

Emma’s right about starvation – even if we lie down and sleep for two years, our body is still working and using up energy and nutrients! Everyone has to eat eventually.
