• Question: if you dont win the money will you keep up your work?

      Absolutely! I get paid to do my PhD, but the money from I’m A Scientist would help on side projects that we call “outreach” (getting science out from labs and into the real world!). I don’t think any of us are quitting work any time soon! 🙂

      Yup

      As Mike said – the money isn’t going to our work for our PhDs/our research. It’s going towards public engagement activities (basically activities that get the general public more involved with science). So if I win it will go towards developing a microbe badge for Brownies/Guides/Cubs/Scouts and if Mike wins it will go towards getting more computer science into schools.       Yes, of course. The money is a small amount of extra money that would go towards public engagement work and not our own research. We’ll continue to be paid to do our research and the stuff we’ll do with the money will be done on the side.
