I don’t know much about the science of nutrition, but I don’t think it’s good to be too overweight or too underweight. Aiming for somewhere in the middle is healthier in the long run!
Mike’s got it right. If you’re overweight, you’re prone to diseases such as heart disease or stroke (as the fat deposits block up your arteries) and diabetes, as well as some cancers and a number of other illnesses. If you’re underweight, you might suffer from muscle wastage (as your body is effectively burning down muscle cells), and many of your non-essential body functions shut down as you’re effectively starving yourself so that’s no good either. Aiming for somewhere in the middle is best.
