Well fruits are all parts of a plant that have developed from part of that plant’s flowers (actually from the ovary of that flower).

Vegetables are a bit more tricky – some vegetables develop from the roots of plants, some like peas are the seeds of a plant.

Fruit and vegetables all tend to be high in some vitamins (which is why we should eat at least 5 portions a day). Fruits also tend to contain a lot more sugar than vegetables which is why we should eat more veg than fruit.

I really like Emma’s answer. As an extra bit of trivia, did you know that a tomato is a fruit that gets used as a vegetable? (You wouldn’t put one in a fruit salad, would you?)

This is one of those great questions to know the answer to!

Unfortunately I didn’t! Thanks Emma and Blanka!
