      This is a really tricky question because different drugs affect different parts of the mind. This is why they also have different effects (so some are stimulants – make us very awake; some are depressants – make us sad/quiet; some make us hallucinate)

      They all basically act by changing the chemistry of our brains but exactly what they do depends on what drug you are talking about
