Skin is a barrier from the environment. Did you know we contain 70% water? If the skin wasn’t there this would evaporate and we would dry out. Apart from the water issue, skin prevents bacteria and other nasties entering our body.

Blood and the circulation system are a way of carrying things round the body – oxygen, nutrients, waste products…

We have blood to help us carry oxygen and other nutrients to our cells. Our cells need oxygen to survive and the cells deep within our body would not get any oxygen were it not for our blood.

Our skin acts as a protective barrier to keep nasty stuff out and keep the bits we need in. It stops us from drying out and protects the organs inside us from damage.

Edited to add – I see Blanka and I were writing this at the same time!
