I don’t think so. I do like designing and making videogames myself, but research is something different – you get to ask questions no-one else would, and try things you couldn’t try out elsewhere!
Well when I’ve finished my PhD I think I want to train as a vet pathologist but this is really me wanting to do everything. As a vet pathologist I will get to use the vet stuff I learned when doing post mortems and lookign at lumps that vets have cut off pets and I will also get to use my PhD when doing vet pathology research.
My biggest problem is that I like doing lots of stuff and don’t like having to pick just one thing!
My long term plans are to move from the lab-based science work I do at the moment to working in science writing type jobs, but I am still slightly vague in my career plans that way. I am currently thinking that I’d like to move towards part-time working when my current contract finishes because of having a young child at home, but I may have to see how possible that is.
